About Alexandra Andreica
UK Contemporary Figurative Artist

ARTIST BIO:

Alexandra Andreica is a UK-based contemporary artist whose work explores the tension between figuration and abstraction, memory and reinvention. Formally trained in academic realism, her early practice focused on technical precision and classical forms. Over time, her paintings evolved into a more instinctive, emotionally charged language—layering bold color with unresolved narratives.

Born out of personal rupture and quiet rebellion, Andreica’s artistic journey began not in a studio, but during a period of professional dissatisfaction. A single canvas and a desire for freedom led her to pursue formal training in fine art, earning a scholarship and graduating with distinction. Today, her work draws from that experience—not as autobiography, but as source material for a broader visual exploration.

Alexandra's paintings reflect a search for truth beyond appearances. Her figures, often emerging through unexpected palettes and fractured compositions, embody states of transition—between presence and absence, control and surrender. She is currently building a cohesive body of work that merges emotion with form and challenges the boundaries of contemporary figuration.

ABOUT ME

I didn’t set out to become an artist. Painting entered my life during a time of quiet upheaval—when the path I was on no longer felt like my own.

Back then, I was working a job that left me numb and unfulfilled. One evening, almost on impulse, I ordered a small canvas and a few tubes of paint. I wasn’t trying to start anything. I just needed to feel something real. That moment marked the beginning of a deeper transformation.

Curiosity led me to the website of a local art university. Scrolling through the course list, I felt a sudden, unmistakable pull—like I’d rediscovered a dream I didn’t know I had permission to pursue. Despite no formal training and no preparation, I applied. To my own surprise, I was accepted—on a full scholarship. I went on to complete my studies with distinction.

Since then, painting has become not only my creative outlet but my way of understanding the world. I began with realism, trying to master technique. But over time, I felt the need to move beyond accuracy—toward something more instinctive, raw, and emotionally honest. My recent work embraces vibrant, sometimes unexpected color palettes and layered compositions that reflect inner complexity rather than surface perfection.

Today, I live and work in the UK, raising my son while building a career rooted in artistic integrity. My hope is that the work I create can speak to others the way painting first spoke to me—quietly, powerfully, and with a kind of truth that words can’t always carry.

If you’re here, thank you for being part of that journey.
